Having watched the CU/BYU game I absolutely walked away from that game saying "BYU won despite the refs". CU was gifted at least 1 goal in that game. One ref threw a flag on CU, and 15 seconds later CU scored yet the goal stood. I don't know everything about lacrosse, but I know that a flag on CU should have killed the play immediately if they had possession.

By faceoff calls I assume you are referring to the refs calling procedures for withholding. Just curious, have you read the new rule, because my interpretation is that any stalling motion that isn't pulling the ball out is a procedure violation. The refs in utah, in my limited view, have been calling this according to the book. If you don't like the book, your issue is somewhere else.

Utah refs obviously are not great, but I don't think they are as bad as losing teams are making them out to be.

Love the subtle Oceans 11 shout out....

What the most interesting part of the video and possible protest will be(at least to me) is not the penalty minutes ratio for either team. The chapman game And even some of their home games earlier this season could have been called evenly poor as far as minutes go and still been lopsided, I do not know the numbers, myself, but this is how that can be. What the real issue is, is how many possessions and more importantly scoring possessions were created for BYU and taken away from Chapman and other opponents because of the Face-off calls. I have seen and heard that the X has been the biggest concern in Utah. Judgment calls on slashes and pushes while they are bad in Utah also are always judgement calls and cant really be challenged. However technical missed calls, can be fixed. Faceoffs/offsides etc

The two games that seem interesting to me is Chapman and Colorado. Both games were close games at one point late in the game and happen to be the two best team BYU has faced at home.

1) Both CU and Chapman coaches were issued bench penalties due the verbal challenging of blatent missed calls (Im sure that cannot just be coincidence).

2) Faceoff control seems to have been called into question in both games. When teams start going on runs or are ending runs of other teams and play-on calls are enforced improperly it can be a subtle but largely important swing in the direction of the game at a critical time.

Again, BYU absolutely played well enough to win these games without the reffing controversy, however, possessions here and there can potentially mean goals and different outcomes to these games.

Signed,

Figure it out
