Photos: Hobart Knocks Off Syracuse

Hobart made the trip over to the Dome in Syracuse and knocked off the Orange, who are widely considered to be a Top 5 team. This is a huge win for Hobart, who now sits at 6-6 on the season. The Statesmen take on Loyola next week.

Syracuse drops to 9-3, with games against Georgetown and Notre Dame still to come. The win for Hobart means they take the Kraus-Simmons Trophy for only the third time since 1986. This was the 99th meeting between the two lacrosse programs. Alex Love’s goal with a little over 2 minutes left gave Hobart the 13-12 win.

Hobart was out shot, lost more face offs, and picked up fewer ground balls than the Orange, but when they were down 12-9, the Statesmen made every shot count en route to a 4-0 run and their biggest win of the season. Hobart’s 3 for 3 proficiency on man up, and the fact that they held Cuse to 1 for 5 helped as well.

Dylan Donahue had three goals for the Orange, while Kevin Rice had a goal and three assists. JoJo Marasco had 2 goals and a helper. Cam Stone had three goals for Hobart, and Derek Akner netted two from the midfield, but Alex Love stole the show with his six goals on the day.
