Recommit To Your Goals

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! Happy Monday!

In case the warm weather, World Cup, and daily rain for some of us hadn’t clued you in, summer has arrived and is in full effect. It’s June 23rd already, which means just about half of 2014 has already passed us by. Many of us, back in late December or early January set goals for the year. Some of us set one or two goals, while others set numerous goals. Some of us set small goals, and others giant. At this point in the year, we fall into one of three categories as it pertains to accomplishing these goals. They are done, we are still working on them, or we have failed. I guess there’s a fourth category as well… the “gave up” category, but none of us are there, right? Right.

So what’s next? If we’ve already accomplished our goals, then maybe they were a little small, shortsighted, or maybe we’re just that good. But why not set a new goal or two if that’s the case? What fun is it to sit still while the rest of the world is moving?

If we’re still working, let’s keep trucking. Surround yourself with people that will help you along, even if they are just cheering and encouraging from the sideline. Not everyone can be intimately involved in what you want and see for your life, but many more than you think, will want to see you succeed.

If we’ve failed, it doesn’t mean we allow ourselves to fall into the “gave up” category. It should mean that we assess our reasons for failing, adjust, replan, and go after it again. Maybe our plan was a little too ambitious and needs to be broken into smaller goals. Maybe we need further resources. Maybe we need simply need to revisit the plan and recommit.

This is the same process for our daily and weekly goals as well. So come Friday, where do you want to be? What do you want to be able to say you’ve accomplished?

I have a number of goals to which I must recommit, in order to say on December 31st, that I am happy with what I accomplished. And that process begins today. Where do you stand??

Make it a GREAT day, and a GREAT week!

Stay blessed.
