The Courage Game Returns Memorial Day Weekend

The Second Annual Courage Game will take place on May 29, 2016 at Penn Park on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. The Courage Game is a 501c3 charitable organization with a mission to encourage and support gay youth, rebuke bullying, and promote wider education and awareness for LGBT equality.

The Courage Game was inspired by the story of Braeden Lange, a twelve-year old lacrosse player, who had the courage to come out to his family and friends. Last year’s inaugural Courage Game came about almost spontaneously in response to Braeden’s story, as openly gay lacrosse players and many allies came together Memorial Day weekend in Philadelphia. The inaugural Courage Game was profiled in an ESPN Feature that has been nominated for a GLAAD award.

As of March 21, 2016, registration is open for the Second Annual Courage Game. This year the Courage Game expects to attract hundreds of participants and spectators. Kids between the ages of 5-18 are encouraged to register.

Aside from great competition, there will be food, drinks, entertainment and many surprise guests. The participants will be coached by some of the best professional players and coaches in the game.

The Courage Game is supported by many key partners, including the LaxAllStars.com media team, an instrumental component in publicizing Braeden’s story, and Nike Lacrosse, which continues to provide apparel and uniforms for the game.

The second annual Courage Game will be powered by NXT Sports, a Philadelphia-based youth sports education and event management company. NXT will handle event set-up and will power the on-site experience. Other key Courage Game partners include US Lacrosse, Geno’s Steaks, House of Talent PA, Saxbys, Wegmans, and the You Can Play Project.

Donations are accepted if you wish to take part in this trailblazing opportunity. All funds raised go directly to supporting the work to spread our mission, impact lives and bring inclusivity to youth sports.
