Shin guards were for the women’s goalies. They were Brine’s response to
the huge field hockey looking ones that companies like Cranbarry sold
(see link).

The SP1′s were terrible though. It was hard plastic dipped in foam that felt like wearing a toilet seat on your collar bone.

This is an awsome find by Reg Hartner who as you said is a must follow on twitter. The thing that intrigues me the most is what looks like shin guards for goalies. I don’t remember any goalies ever wearing shin guards. Anyone ever seen that?

Also the foam dipped shoulder pad liners were the best. I wore those through my junior year in college when they couldn’t be held together with athletic tape anymore.
