Less than a week ago, if you had asked me if we were going to see a new champion in D1 men’s lacrosse in 2014, I would have said “unlikely, at best”. 5 days later and my answer has changed to, “it seems incredibly likely right now, if not down right probable.”

We took all of the first round teams of the 2014 NCAA Lacrosse Tournament and broke down each roster and divided the players by state and province. Since all of the rosters had to be checked by hand, we can promise that a ton of effort was put forth, but our numbers could be slightly off (nobody’s perfect)!
Behind a heroic 14-save performance from sophomore goalie Gunnar Waldt, the No. 19/16 Bryant University men’s lacrosse team made history Wednesday afternoon, earning its first-ever NCAA tournament victory with a 9-8 topping of Siena College at Bulldog Stadium.
With the proliferation of tournaments and showcase camps, elite level instructional opportunities have become more and more rare. When you look at the numbers, this trend seems to be backwards simply because so many new players are picking up the sport. There are more opportunities to play the sport than every before but not as many opportunities to learn and develop skills from talented teachers.

We’re back with the Alphabetical 2014 NCAA D1 Previews! Like last year, we’ll go through all of the D1 men’s teams for 2014 (there are 67 this year!) and we are now moving on to the Bryant Bulldgos, located in Smithfield, RI.

Miles Thompson returns from injury and drops nine goals on Bryant in a win for Albany lacrosse. The Thompsons combined for 22 points in the game.
