I took in the New York City Public School Athletic League (PSAL) Championship games for both the boys and girls, and for both the Bowl Division and the Championship Divisions. It was a great day of lacrosse in the Big Apple!
We took part in the annual CityLax Gala last night at the Yale Club of New York City, and all the big names and faces of New York City lacrosse made their way to the event. Check out the great video below from CityLax that showcases the Gala event and runs down a small portion of who was there.
CityLax (New York City) uses a public-private partnership model to develop and expand the game of lacrosse inside New York City public schools. The not-for-profit provides grants, equipment, free year round player clinics, PSAL trophies, coaches’ clinics in the Winter, and acts as a resource for the sport within the five boroughs of NYC.
On Saturday, August 24th, CityLax will host the fourth annual Southampton Shootout, a one-day charity field lacrosse tournament, held at Southampton High School on the East end of Long Island. The tourney proceeds benefit CityLax directly, and it all goes towards Growing The Game in New York City public schools.

Through CityLax, the volunteer coaches and players of NYC have created something truly special in Rooftop Lacrosse. They have given birth to a very real thing, that will live on for years. Rooftop was started on a whim, when an opportunity presented itself, and it has grown into something much bigger. What will you give birth to this Summer?
A couple of Sundays back saw a constant drizzle slowly drench New York City, but that didn’t stop the Public School Athletic League lacrosse championships, which took place at Aviator Sports Complex, in Brooklyn, from going down in a pretty amazing fashion.
On May 22nd, CityLax is hosting a great night of lacrosse (and fundraising!) at the Gansevoort in Manhattan. The event will run from 8:30 to 11:30 and will be teeming with current CityLax volunteers, pro lacrosse players, and the New York City lacrosse faithful.
CityLax, a large not-for-profit volunteer group that focuses on growing the sport of lacrosse in NYC, held their annual fundraising Gala just over a week ago, and they got a great turnout, and raised a ton of money, which will go towards supporting lacrosse in New York City public schools.

The Fourth Annual CityLax Southampton Shootout is in the books. The 2012 version of the event saw 19 teams play a full day of lacrosse for a great cause, in a great location, with great weather and results!
