On August 23, 2014, the Denver Outlaws brought home the franchise’s first Major League Lacrosse championship after 5 title appearances in just 9 seasons. The winningest major league sports franchise in Pat Bowlen’s portfolio of teams, Denver is also the first professional lacrosse organization West of the Mississippi to ever win a championship. Branden Geyer hits us with awesome game photos and a full recap.

The city of Atlanta, aka Hotlanta, fell nowhere short of its reputation when it got its chance to host the 2014 Major League Lacrosse Championship Game.
Chris Rosentall recently tweeted something about this the other day, and he brought up the fact that both Casey Powell and John Grant Jr. both use orange heads. Why don’t more MLL players use orange sticks?
From the surface, JoJo War Drummer might seem a bit gimmicky, or maybe even (dare I say it) obnoxious if you’re a fan of the “other” team. But if those thoughts have crossed your mind, you’ve likely never tried to get to know the man beneath his war paint.
In past years, the MLL Championship Game has drawn relatively large and small crowds alike, sometimes at the same venue of use, and sometimes with the same teams playing. What can we expect for 2014? Will people show up in Georgia? Will TV viewership be better or worse? And is Major League Lacrosse beginning to create some serious traction within the larger sporting world?
After 14 weeks of unprecedented insanity, we’ve finally reached the MLL playoffs, with the Machine taking on the Rattlers in the first game, and the Lizards facing the Outlaws in the second.
The lax world is talking about a new John Grant Jr MLL Record, and it has to do with him passing Kevin Leveille as the all-time leading goal scorer in Major League Lacrosse. Junior entered the game with 276 goals, and needed just one to tie Leveille at 277. Instead, John Grant Jr dropped four goals (and four assists!) to move to 280 total goals, and set a new MLL record.
Although the game saw a lightening delay, the Ohio crowd got their money’s worth in Saturday night’s 45 goal score-fest, unless they were paying to see defense, in that case…sorry! The Ohio Machine have now wound up taking home two overtime games in a row, this time beating the Denver Outlaws 23-22 in what became the highest scoring game in the organization’s history.
Although you’ve probably shifted into more of an international lacrosse mindset for the time being, let’s take a quick look at everything that just went down in Major League Lacrosse.
Week seven of Major League Lacrosse was packed to the gills with underdog wins, highlight goals, 5 minute misconducts and more!
If Charlotte is going to keep their postseason window open, they just might have to end The Streak. It’s obviously a daunting task going against the Denver Outlaws, but the Hounds might just have what it takes!
Things are starting to shake out in Major League Lacrosse! It’s a week 5 recap from the one and only Chris Rosenthall. New York, Ohio, Denver, and Rochester all picked up big wins!
After watching night one of the MLL summer season, I couldn’t help but make some observations.
My favorite theme night in all of professional sports has to be Star Wars night. From Minor League Baseball to Nascar to the NLL to the NBA, every pro sports league has participated in a Star Wars night except the MLL…until now!
Ladies and gentlemen, once again, it’s on. It’s time for the 2014 Major League Lacrosse season to begin. Which team will end up in Atlanta four months from now, hoisting the Steinfeld Cup and doing the Nae Nae or whatever it is they’re doing in Atlanta four months from now? No idea whatsoever, but it’s time to find out, so let’s start things off with a team-by-team season preview.
