It has already been seven weekends of lacrosse in Poland and Fall Ball
has come and gone. It is evident that the PFL made a good call
splitting the Men’s League into two with the action being quite level
in both leagues with just five games ending in a 10+ point difference,
three of them courtesy of expansion teams. Fall ball was topped off by
National Team Selections for both Men and Women.
Since the fall ball season is wrapping up, I figured it would be a good time to reach out to see how the boys at Brown University are doing. Brown hosted some pretty unique scrimmages this fall, let’s see what’s going on with the Bears.
It’s only fall ball, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited for some excellent fall ball video! BHSVideoDad is back at it, and covers the big boys from D1 as they play a fall event in Kezar Stadium at the 2013 Fall Classic in San Francisco, CA.
Brown hosted both the Sankofa Lacrosse Alliance “Ambassadors” team, as well as a team of English National squad hopefuls for three one hour scrimmages. See the excellent photos below from Greg, and expect much more on this interesting event early next week.
This past weekend, St. John’s and Harvard traveled to West Point for a little outside scrimmage action. Fall ball is all about getting better, implementing fundamentals, working in new faces, checking out new gear, and most importantly, just playing some lacrosse!
Did you enjoy Hopkins destroying their alumni team, by an ungodly almost 30 to 2? Looking for a slightly more competitive fall video? Hopkins vs Fairfield has you covered! YouTube user huntva is killing it with fall video. Thank you!
Harvard Lacrosse put up some highlights from their Black – White inter-squad scrimmage, and it’s a great primer for their upcoming scrimmage with the English National Team hopefuls. The Harvard – England game will air LIVE on Harvard’s YouTube channel on October 22nd at 7PM, and that will serve as a great primer for the Brown vs England vs The Ambassadors game in Providence on October 25th.
More excellent fall ball highlights out of Vermont? You know it. First we had UVM vs the Hill Academy, then we got UVM vs Bishop’s (Canada), and now we get Vermont vs Holy Cross. I’ll take it any day of the week.
Team USA Blue took on Loyola at 2pm on Saturday as part of the Play for Parkinson’s event in Alexandria, VA. Loyola also scrimmaged against Georgetown, and we have photos from that fall game as well. Photo gallery by Craig Chase!
For the past two years, the Brooklyn Brawl lacrosse tournament has been held in Brooklyn. Now that the one day tourney is expanding, and moving indoors (November 2nd can be cold!), the event has moved West across a couple of rivers, and will be held in Randolph, New Jersey, at the Indoor Sport Pavilion.
The University of Vermont invited Bishop’s University down from Canada for a fall ball game that took place on UVM’s homecoming weekend. Bishop’s is located in Lennoxville, Quebec, and is a member of CUFLA (the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association). It is about 2 and a half hours from Lennoxville to Burlington, VT.
Craig Chase took in the recent Loyola – Georgetown scrimmage, and came away with a ton of great photos of both the Hounds and Hoyas. Loyola took on Gtown at noon this past Saturday at the Play For Parkinson’s Event in Alexandria, VA. Right after this scrimmage, the Hounds took on Team USA Blue.
The Government Shutdown: Almost a million employees have been put on furlough or will be paid at a later date, federal parks have shut down, and passport delays are imminent. On a less national scale, the US Service Academies are suspending athletics on campus, and this obviously impacts lacrosse in a major way.
Lyle Thompson scores a highlight reel backhand goal for the Iroquois Nationals against Syracuse’s men’s lacrosse team in fall ball scrimmage action in Cortland, NY. The game was broadcast on Access Lacrosse.
