Both Syracuse and St. John’s entered the game in Kennesaw, GA with a 2-2 record, but Cuse got above .500 with the 14-8 win in front of more than 5,500 fans, many of them local. Clearly the chance to see top quality D1 lacrosse was enough to draw out the growing Georgia lacrosse community. Photos, GIF, video, and recap!
Providence College made the short trip up Route 95 to visit Boston University last night, and the host Terriers dropped a 10-7 decision to the visiting Friars. Originally, the game had been scheduled to be played in Providence, but weather forced a change to Boston, and the game was played at Nickerson Field, where the Boston Cannons used to play games.
Yale hosted St. John’s in New Haven, CT for the Bulldogs’ season opening game last weekend and the Bulldogs came away with a 10-6 home win over the visiting Red Storm (1-1 with a win over Holy Cross). Around 1300 fans came out to see these two Top 20 teams play, which is a solid number for a February game!
A young UMass Minutemen squad took down #9 Ohio State in Jacksonville, Florida last night and our main man, Tommy Gilligan, was on the scene snapping photos. UMass looked tough from the first minute and when OSU made a run to tie things up in the fourth quarter, UMass showed some solid composure, eventually winning 12-11 in OT.
Craig Chase took in the season opener for Loyola and Virginia at UVA’s Klockner Stadium last night. Virginia emerged with a 14-13 OT win over the Hounds, and James Pannell scored the game winner (one of four goals on the night for Pannell).

In another great match-up before the match-up, #6 Syracuse met #1 Notre Dame in a preview of this week’s 1st round Big East match-up. For the first three quarters, the game looked like a chess match between two very talented opponents. After a scoreless first quarter, the Irish would draw first blood. Going into the […]
Cornell and Princeton squared-off this past weekend in a high scoring shootout that the Big Red won 17-11. Cornell was led by a stand out performance by attackmen Rob Pannell and Steve Mock, who combined for nine goals and 5 assists. A first half onslaught would bust Cornell out to an 8-1 lead, before heading […]
One of the many annual highlights of the Ales Hrebesky Memorial box lacrosse tournament, going on RIGHT NOW in the Czech Republic, is the All-Star game. Players from each of the non-Czech teams are selected to represent the tourney All-Star team, and they play the Czech national team, which is obviously comprised of players from the Czech club teams.
Stephen O’Day stopped by the West Islip vs. Ridgewood game to capture some great action shots.
Tommy Gilligan shot the Syracuse – Princeton game, and it turned out to be an epic battle, featuring two Top 20 teams. Cuse went up 3-0 early, then Princeton fought back, eventually going up 12-10 in the fourth. Syracuse pumped in three goals to end the game, and won 13-12 on the road.
Steve O’Day checked out some local High School lacrosse earlier this week. Brophy Prep (AZ) played host to West Linn (OR) down in Arizona.
