The Belgium national men’s lacrosse team took on a storied Uganda squad in group play on Tuesday, July 12, at Dicks Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.

The Canadians have bounced back from the loss to Team USA on opening night to remain undefeated since and propelling themselves back in to the gold medal game. Thursday night in front of 7,889 fans, Canada stepped their game up in preparation for the rematch.

Boston and New York both entered Friday night’s contest with 2-2 records, and this was the first NY – Boston game of the year. On paper, this game promised to be tight and competitive, and in reality, it proved to be just that. The Lizards pulled out a hard-fought 11-10 win at home to jump above .500, and the Cannons fell to 2-3.
The Duke Blue Devils raced out to an early lead, then weathered a ferocious Notre Dame storm, to pull out the 11-9 win, and repeat as champs of the D1 men’s lacrosse world. It was an impressive team effort, and from the get go, Duke looked poised and ready to play.
Loyola takes down Lafayette 21-4, the Hounds are undefeated in Patriot League play, Justin Ward had 8 points, Joe Fletcher scored his first career goal, and we got some great college lacrosse game photos from Craig Chase. Plus a Fletcher goal GIF!
Both Syracuse and St. John’s entered the game in Kennesaw, GA with a 2-2 record, but Cuse got above .500 with the 14-8 win in front of more than 5,500 fans, many of them local. Clearly the chance to see top quality D1 lacrosse was enough to draw out the growing Georgia lacrosse community. Photos, GIF, video, and recap!
Providence College made the short trip up Route 95 to visit Boston University last night, and the host Terriers dropped a 10-7 decision to the visiting Friars. Originally, the game had been scheduled to be played in Providence, but weather forced a change to Boston, and the game was played at Nickerson Field, where the Boston Cannons used to play games.
Yale hosted St. John’s in New Haven, CT for the Bulldogs’ season opening game last weekend and the Bulldogs came away with a 10-6 home win over the visiting Red Storm (1-1 with a win over Holy Cross). Around 1300 fans came out to see these two Top 20 teams play, which is a solid number for a February game!
A young UMass Minutemen squad took down #9 Ohio State in Jacksonville, Florida last night and our main man, Tommy Gilligan, was on the scene snapping photos. UMass looked tough from the first minute and when OSU made a run to tie things up in the fourth quarter, UMass showed some solid composure, eventually winning 12-11 in OT.
Craig Chase took in the season opener for Loyola and Virginia at UVA’s Klockner Stadium last night. Virginia emerged with a 14-13 OT win over the Hounds, and James Pannell scored the game winner (one of four goals on the night for Pannell).

I took in the New York Lizards – Denver Outlaws game on Sunday evening, and a couple of things really stood out to me. I’ll go through some of the bigger story lines for the game, and provide a couple of Game Photos to support each avenue of discussion.
