I took in the New York Lizards – Denver Outlaws game on Sunday evening, and a couple of things really stood out to me. I’ll go through some of the bigger story lines for the game, and provide a couple of Game Photos to support each avenue of discussion.

In another great match-up before the match-up, #6 Syracuse met #1 Notre Dame in a preview of this week’s 1st round Big East match-up. For the first three quarters, the game looked like a chess match between two very talented opponents. After a scoreless first quarter, the Irish would draw first blood. Cornell and Princeton squared-off this past weekend in a high scoring shootout that the Big Red won 17-11. Cornell was led by a stand out performance by attackmen Rob Pannell and Steve Mock, who combined for nine goals and 5 assists. A first half onslaught would bust Cornell out to an 8-1 lead, before heading into the locker rooms at 9-3 at halftime. In the second half, both squads would trade goals through the last 30 minutes. One of the many annual highlights of the Ales Hrebesky Memorial box lacrosse tournament, going on RIGHT NOW in the Czech Republic, is the All-Star game. Players from each of the non-Czech teams are selected to represent the tourney All-Star team, and they play the Czech national team, which is obviously comprised of players from the Czech club teams.
Stephen O’Day stopped by the West Islip vs. Ridgewood game to capture some great action shots.
Tommy Gilligan shot the Syracuse – Princeton game, and it turned out to be an epic battle, featuring two Top 20 teams. Cuse went up 3-0 early, then Princeton fought back, eventually going up 12-10 in the fourth. Syracuse pumped in three goals to end the game, and won 13-12 on the road.
Steve O’Day checked out some local High School lacrosse earlier this week. Brophy Prep (AZ) played host to West Linn (OR) down in Arizona.
Garden City topped Loyola-Blakefield 6-5, in the high school game, which was played before the college guys took the field for the Face Off Classic in Baltimore. Craig Chase photo gallery after the jump.
