The New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse defeat the Hamilton Nationals 12-10 on Randall’s Island in New York City.
The Outlaws want to continue their streak, the Machine want to end theirs, Boston needs to perk up, and the Hounds look to make history. It’s Week 7 of Major League Lacrosse!
Have we reached the point where the good and bad teams begin to sort themselves out? Is it already time to separate the pros from the cons, the platinum from the bronze (that might make sense in a moment)? The schedule says no, but some of these results argue otherwise.
At 1-5, the Boston Cannons’ hopes of making Championship Weekend are starting to erode just a bit, and for a team with the amount of talent, veteran leadership, expectations, and consistency, this is pretty shocking. Is it time to panic, MLL style?
Lance Antoine provides a look back on the Charlotte Hound’s performance against the Ohio Machine in Week 6 of Major League Lacrosse action.
The Chesapeake Bayhawks came in to New York City to take on the New York Lizards, and they absolutely dominated the rain-soaked game, which was the first ever pro field lacrosse contest played at the iconic and historic Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island.
It’s a total coincidence, but three of this weekend’s matchups were listed amongst the most interesting games of the year. The one that wasn’t has since become a battle of the top teams in the league, so let’s go ahead and officially declare that one interesting as well. We start off the week with a classic rivalry game in New York City, and a battle to get to (or maintain) a .500 winning percentage; here’s a breakdown of that and everything…
Editor’s Note: Please welcome Sean Christman to LAS! Sean did a great job of covering D3 this year over on Cac to the Cac, and now he’s looking at some of the potential Top Undrafted MLL Players from this year’s college Seniors! With the collegiate season officially coming to a close, the MLL will be bringing in lots of rookies from the collegiate draft. Which team is the best in the MLL RIGHT NOW?
As the season wears on, we’ll see whether New York’s new look team can turn into a dominant force in the MLL. One thing we don’t have to wonder is if can Pannell hack it in the MLL… He’s already given us an emphatic “YES” on that one.
In each MLL ad this year, only one or two players are named, and in each ad, the players named no longer play Major League Lacrosse. Paul Rabil’s name is everywhere, so maybe MLL doesn’t use him, but there are lots of active guys in the league right now, and many of them deserve some shine!

The Cannons snap their streak, the Outlaws keep rolling, and FOGOs are the most important people on the field.
Week 4 always feels a little bigger than it probably should, and here’s why: Say you have a 1-2 record coming into the weekend. What if you lose? Doesn’t 1-3 seem miles away from 2-2? It was all good just a week ago, now you’ve got to win twice as many games as you have all season just to get back to .500? No way.
Be honest. How many MLL games did you catch this weekend? One? None? They sure didn’t make it easy! Maybe it couldn’t have been helped, but every game in the league started up at the same time – Saturday at 7:00 EST, which was just in time to compete with both the NLL championship and the Albany-Denver NCAA throwdown that had been hyped up all week.
