YBL Championships a Booming Success

It was an exciting Sunday afternoon at the Chaska Community Center, as the Minnesota Swarm wrapped up its sixth season of the Youth Box League (YBL) with four championship games touting the best and brightest youth box lacrosse players across the metro area. The championships capped off yet another successful YBL campaign and the inaugural season for the YBL Elite League.

The handful of Minnesota Swarm players taking part in Wednesday’s small practice session were a bit late to arrive, but the four Canadians had a good reason: they had to watch the second period of Canada’s hockey game against Latvia in the Sochi Olympics.

The Minnesota Swarm made the trek to Rochester, NY to take on the Knighthawks in preseason NLL action, and the game was exciting from the get go. If the regular season lives up to the goodness that was this scrimmage, the National Lacrosse League is in for a great year.

Minnesota is on board, are you? If you read my last article about the Jr. NLL, you probably noticed the guys dressed in the yellow honey comb jerseys. That would be the Junior Swarm and although they haven’t been playing lacrosse indoors for very long, the instruction and commitment they have received from Aime Caines, Ryan Benesch and the rest of the Swarm organization, is what I believe rocketed them to the top.

NLL Draft Results And Commentary

55 players were drafted into the NLL last night in Oakville, Ontario. The Lacrosse Network held a LIVE Hangout, which was a lot of fun, and can be seen above.
