Tommy Gilligan snapped a ton of great photos from the Cornell – Ohio State game, as well as the Syracuse – Yale thriller. These two shots in particular from the Cuse – Yale game stood out, even if Yale got the better of the action here, while the Orange came out victorious.
In another great match-up before the match-up, #6 Syracuse met #1 Notre Dame in a preview of this week’s 1st round Big East match-up. For the first three quarters, the game looked like a chess match between two very talented opponents. After a scoreless first quarter, the Irish would draw first blood. Cornell and Princeton squared-off this past weekend in a high scoring shootout that the Big Red won 17-11. Cornell was led by a stand out performance by attackmen Rob Pannell and Steve Mock, who combined for nine goals and 5 assists. A first half onslaught would bust Cornell out to an 8-1 lead, before heading into the locker rooms at 9-3 at halftime. In the second half, both squads would trade goals through the last 30 minutes. Tommy Gilligan shot the Syracuse – Princeton game, and it turned out to be an epic battle, featuring two Top 20 teams. Cuse went up 3-0 early, then Princeton fought back, eventually going up 12-10 in the fourth. Syracuse pumped in three goals to end the game, and won 13-12 on the road.
On average, it looks like we’re seeing more goals in 2013, but the Syracuse – Army game was a low-scoring affair, with the Orange coming out on top, 6-2, in the Carrier Dome, over the visiting Black Knights.
Virginia took down Stony Brook 13-7 on Saturday. We’ve got a batch of FANTASTIC Game Photos along some excellent video, and with links to game statistics.
Army’s John Glessner had three goals and two assists against UMass, and also broke a head right off the shaft on one of his shots. That’s some SERIOUS power!
