Does this remind you of anything? Have we seen this before? We sure have, but it’s ALWAYS welcome. Long range long pole goal. Simply classic. What was that? 60 yards? Sure thing, no problem. Love the accuracy and straight up gumption from Yale’s Jimmy Craft.
Fairfield opened up a 1 goal lead after 1 quarter, and a 2 goal lead going into the half, but Yale just would not go quietly into that good night. Both teams put up 4 goals in the third, and Yale clamped down in the fourth to blank Fairfield, while scoring two goals of their own, to tie it up at 11. OT came and Stags’ senior Eric Warden launched a bomb from about 13 yards to win it for Fairfield.
Yale hosted St. John’s in New Haven, CT for the Bulldogs’ season opening game last weekend and the Bulldogs came away with a 10-6 home win over the visiting Red Storm (1-1 with a win over Holy Cross). Around 1300 fans came out to see these two Top 20 teams play, which is a solid number for a February game!
After winning the Ivy League and defeating Penn State in the first round of last year’s tournament, the Yale Bulldogs will be just as dangerous in 2014 as they were last year.
At the :30 second mark of the video a Hartwick player stuffs a shot, fights for a GB, and then gets wrestled down to the ground. Today, parents and fans would be up in arms, and screaming for a penalty. There is a little bit of that in the audio, but a solid number of chuckles can also be heard. It was all part of the game back then, even if it was a little bit ugly!
Peter Tumbas is at the IMLCA Coaches’ Convention in Baltimore, MD this weekend and will be reporting on the convention scene later in the coming week. For now, enjoy some photos of the upcoming gear for college teams in 2014 that is on display.
Couldn’t make it to yesterday’s NCAA quarterfinal games? Here’s what you might have missed.
Tommy Gilligan snapped a ton of great photos from the Cornell – Ohio State game, as well as the Syracuse – Yale thriller. These two shots in particular from the Cuse – Yale game stood out, even if Yale got the better of the action here, while the Orange came out victorious.
There was a ton of D1 men’s lacrosse action on March 15th, 2013. We dig deeper into a couple of the games featuring teams like Syracuse, Georgetown, Cornell and more.
We move another, final spot down the 2013 Alphabetical NCAA D1 Previews to the Yale Bulldogs, located in New Haven, CT! Let’s take a look at those Elis to finish up our preview posts!
For the second year in a row, Citylax has put on a great one day tournament out in Southampton, NY on Long Island to benefit their youth and high school programs. The tourney is relaxed, no true Champion is crowned and all of the proceeds go to spreading the game of lacrosse in historically underserved neighborhoods of NYC. Let’s check out the action…
A new LAS t-shirt series is launched. Plus news & notes as always.
