1988 JR A Box Lacrosse Video Is Amazing

The above video is from a Junior A game in 1988 between the Etobicoke Eclipse and the Whitby Warriors. Etobicoke is a former municipality in western Toronto, and 1988 marked their lacrosse club’s last season in the OLA. It’s interesting to note that former NHL star, Adam Oates, played five seasons with the Eclipse in the late 70s and early 80s. Whitby is also a historic club, and they have had a number of big names come up through their program as well.

I am always impressed by the stick handling of these players, and although I was 8 years old when this game took place, it still looks like it’s from a different time and place. I guess 25 years IS a different time and place… Maybe it’s just me, but I still think it is amazing how much the game can change, and even more shocking that it can do so in such a short period of time.

We still catch, throw, and scoop, but let’s be honest, almost everything else has taken on a new face. I’m not complaining, just pointing out the obvious. It’s what I do best. Obviously.

If you watched the video below in 25 years (2038), would it look as outdated as this video from 1988 looks now?

No, it would still be much sillier. Don’t know who Benny Hill is? That’s what the internet is for.
