Iroquois Could Re-Join FIL Blue Division

The Iroquois Nationals may be headed back to the Blue Division in Denver for the 2014 FIL World Lacrosse Championships after all. The FIL sent out a postal vote, at the request of the Iroquois, to address the issue, and while there was still some contention over the phrasing of the postal vote, the decision was, in the end, left up to the member nations.

Early reports indicate that the vote went the Iroquois’ way, even with the phrasing of the issue, and that Bylaw 11.1, which says future group placements are dictated by the last World Games final standings, was thrown out.

This means that a new system for determining group placements and seeding will be needed, and that new decision could be made public as early as July.

While the Iroquois have not officially made their way back in to the Blue Division for 2014, the door has been re-opened, and the potential is there. As we learn more, we will continue to keep you updated, utilizing all of our international lacrosse contacts.
