The JuCo Report: LSM Goes HAM!

Welcome to another installment of The JuCo Report! I’m running through all the big games, video, photos, and stories from the world of NJCAA lacrosse. It’s the one place where NJCAA lacrosse really gets the respect it deserves! If YOU want to see your team included, hit us up with some info and we will be sure to get YOUR PROGRAM involved! (Check out last week’s post to get caught up!)

NJCAA Men’s Lacrosee Top Ten Poll – March 24, 2014

1) Onondaga (6-0)
2) Nassau (6-1)
3) Essex (4-1)
4) Harford (4-2)
5) Anne Arundel (6-3)
6) Genesee (4-2)
7) Delhi (3-2)
8) Howard (3-3)
9) Catonsville (6-0)
10) Monroe (2-2)

Next in line: ASA (1-1), Finger Lakes (2-4)

LSM Goes HAM in 4th Quarter

ASA Freshman LSM, Nate Stewart, had three goals and an assist (all in the second half), AND he won some face offs, while contributing to a 4th quarter comeback attempt by ASA on visiting Catonsville. ASA’s comeback fell short, but this performance is still really impressive. ASA has been playing with a shorter roster this year, and that’s forcing players to play multiple roles. Guess that’s not all bad!

International JuCo Players

Have you ever wondered if there are any international players in the NJCAA? Well, there are! Regular reader Mike Kelly wrote in with some good finds, and definitely did a nice job of finding a couple of worldy cats!

From England, we’ve got OCC’s Jake Weddell. That’s a good start. Look at Genesee’s roster and you will see some Canadians (Brody Jorgenson & Jesse Jimerson) and players from native nations (Cameron Seneca, Craig Seneca, & Dana Ray), but you will also see that Lukas Balidon is on the team, and he hails from Germany. Mohawk Valley’s Yan Graciano is from Sao Paolo, Brazil. Dean’s Taisei Matsumoto is from Japan, and Jeff Ng is from Hong Kong. ASA has Canadians in Cory Boyle and the aforementioned Nate Stewart.

In The News

College of Southern Maryland triumphs in first game. Barber’s 8 goals lift OCC over Harford. TC3 sets some records in a recent win over Northampton. Not a lot of news outside of this from the JuCo world. That makes me sad.

High Scorers

Harford’s Justin Gosnell leads the way right now wit 38 points (26g, 12a) in just 5 games. Brandon Watson from Nassau is just behind him with 37 points (22g, 15a), but has played 7 games so far. Eric Marzocca, also of Nassau sits in third with 30 points on an even 14 goals and 16 assists. Marcus Dietz of CCBC Essex has 17 goals and 12 assists through 5 games for 29 points. Howard’s Dan Kaplan has done the same on 19 goals and 10 assists, while Finger Lakes Matt Scharr has 29 points in just four games with 7 goals and an impressive 22 assists.
