Welcome back to another morning Music Monday.  This week I’m bringing you a fresh take on a couple songs and a new sound from another artist.  We all know the saying, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and I ‘d say I usually feel this way about my music.  I’m often hesitant to like a remix or when another artists touches someone else’s song but when things work out it’s pretty awesome.

The Submarines – 1940 (Amplive Remix)

First off we have a a pretty sweet remix of an indie/folk song.  I already liked The Submarines but the remix definitely takes the energy level up.  I think it’d make for a great song in a ski edit or something along those lines.

The Uncluded – Delicate Cycle

Aesop Rock, the longtime underground rapper and producer joined forces with American singer-songwriter Kimya Dawson to form The Uncluded.  I was unsure how I’d take to the new duo but it definitely grew on me.  The two have a great chemistry and I like how the contrasting styles work cohesively.

Joell Ortiz – Same Love (Remix)

The Heist by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis has been an incredibly successful independent album.  This is partly thanks to it’s catchy hooks and great production, but also to its deep content.  Macklemore has stated numerous times that “Same Love” was a very important record to him and while not everyone agrees with same sex marriage, it’s really about human rights.  Joell Ortiz of Slaughterhouse added a verse to the beginning of “Same Love” which is supposed to appear on an upcoming mixtape.  It’s awesome to see artists linking up and putting meaning in their craft.
