Video: Harvard Knocks Off Undefeated Cornell

Cornell is no longer the sole undefeated team in D1 after they dropped a decision to Harvard, 14-9, on their home field in Ithaca, NY. Cornell took leads of 1-0, 4-1, and 6-4, but Harvard fought back and tied it up each time. Harvard took the lead for the first time early in the third quarter to go up 7-6, and never looked back from there. The Crimson tacked on goals whenever Cornell looked ready to make a run, and the Big Red couldn’t string together consecutive goals in the second half until they were already down 13-7.

Will Walker continued to lead the way for Harvard with 4 goals and an assist. Devin Dwyer had a goal and three assists, and both Carl Zimmerman and Peter Schwartz notched two goals and had a helper. Gabriel Mendola scooped up a scary 10 ground balls and Jake Gambitsky made 8 saves for the win. John Hogan had a big day for Cornell with 3 goals and 2 assists, and Joe Paoletta had two goals and a helper. Christian Knight took the loss in net, but made 14 saves in the losing effort.

Cornell falls to 9-1, and hosts 6-3 Syracuse in a big game on April 8th. Harvard plays host to new crosstown rival, 1-9 Boston University, on the same day.
