The D3 Report: Great Photos And Videos!

The D3 Report is now in full swing, as the D3 men’s college lacrosse season is now in full swing. It might be the “lowest” NCAA division, but it’s also the biggest, and it’s filled with talent and excellent lacrosse. Let’s showcase the D3 guys getting after it!

The D3 Report – Poll City

There are many D3 polls out there, and all of them are interesting. While the USILA Coaches Poll is still regarded as the top dog, the LaxPower Forum Poll is also quite strong, and always has been. There is also the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine D3 Poll, and it’s worth a gander.

While all three of these polls have Tufts as their #1, and RIT as their #2, there is notable difference of opinion after that. Lynchburg, Stevenson, and Union make up the next three in all three polls, but in different orders… but from there, things start to jumble up even more. AND THIS MAKES SENSE!

Lots of Top 20 teams are playing other Top 20 teams now, and that means reshuffling of places. Salisbury is now 2-2 (what?) and that means new faces are moving up. There are still some stalwart Top 20 programs out there, but there is also a lot of new blood. Parity, I love you.

Lynchburg beat Cabrini, Union beat Cortland, Gettysburg beat Salisbury, AND so did York. RIT beat Ithaca by 3 goals and Roanoke lost to Sewanee. It was a CRAZY weekend, and the polls look crazy because of it. Plus it’s still early. It’s going to be a great year!

Lynchburg – Cabrini Highlights

The Hornets beat Cabrini 10-9 in an important early season match up in Virginia. This was a SERIOUS comeback win for Lynchburg as Cabrini looked like they were going to win this one, even through parts of the 4th quarter.

Game Photos – Wesleyan Vs Hamilton

The snow banks were taller than any man, and Hamilton gave Wesleyan all it could handle in both team’s season openers. Wesleyan pulled out the 9-8 OT win in Middletown, CT, and held a team and family dinner afterwards. Always good to have that dinner after a win! Matt Prezioso scored the game winner in OT.

Tufts – Middlebury Highlights

The opening shot where the guys are walking through huge snow banks makes this video worth watching. The rock solid lacrosse action doesn’t hurt either!

Game Photos – Ferrum Vs VA Wesleyan

Kim Black snapped some awesome photos and icy roads and freezing rain didn’t stop the game from going down. There were mounds of snow on the sidelines in Virginia Beach, and this game went down to the wire. It was tied 1t 13 with a minute left when VA Wesleyan notched the go ahead goal. Ferrum had a chance to tie, but the shot sailed wide. The conditions weren’t great, but the game sure was!

Springfield – Stevens Highlights

Springfield took down Stevens 7-6 in Massachusetts. Big win for the Pride at home in the snow. I remember playing in games like that at Springfield 15 years ago. Ah, the memories. The turf looks a lot nice now though. Astro in my days!
