The GREAT Life: Enthusiasm, Part 3

I’ve had people that are close to me ask what things I get excited about. And I used to simply reply that I’m just not really excitable. As I thought about that question more recently, I realize that the word that I was caught up on was excited. Not a whole lot of things really get me emotionally aroused, which is how I generally interpreted that question, often due to the timing or context in which I was asked. But when thought about it in terms of being “enthusiastic versus excited I came away with a little different perspective.

We understand enthusiasm. It’s passion for something; eagerness, intensity, zeal. I love the waydictionary.com defines enthusiasm, though. It’s an “absorbing or controlling possession of the mind by any interest or pursuit.” When I read this, I immediately recognized that I am enthusiastic about about helping other people, particularly young people. That’s my passion. Whether it’s through coaching, mentoring, or anything else, that’s what consumes my mind on a regular basis.

What interests or pursuits in your life have an absorbing or controlling possession of your mind? Is it your relationship? Is it your job? Is it a hobby? Find something that you are enthusiastic about and make it a priority in your life. For any number of reasons, you may not be able to make it THE priority, but I believe that if it’s at least near the top of your list, you will find yourself in a good spot!

be easy
God bless.
