We’re counting down the days to Major League Lacrosse’s Championship Weekend present by Smartlink, and we’re kicking it off in video style with this week’s Throwback Thursday with some help from MLL itself! We got our hands on a great clip of Casey Powell chasing someone down from behind, and then scoring a goal off the dodge, against the Bayhawks in the WAY BACK days of 2001.

The (then) Long Island (now New York) Lizards won the game 15-11, beating the then Baltimore Bayhawks for the first ever MLL title. Paul Gait was the MVP of the game.

For more, check out today’s Traditional Thursday, which features MLL Championship Weekend present by Smartlink goals, scored with traditional sticks from 2001-2003. There are quite a few of them!
