One year ago, over 240 collegiate and post-collegiate lacrosse players came together to battle each other and raise funds to help victims of Hurricane Sandy. The event will commence again as the 2nd Annual Margolis Cup on December 27th, 28th, 29th, and it has a unique format, both on the field, and in the how the rosters are created.
Lax School has been killing it with old videos thanks to Billy Daye, Bill Millman, and Randy Fraser. These guys have stacks of VHS being converted to YouTube videos, and their most recent unveiling, of the 1992 Vail Finals, is another gem.

Hawaii 5-0 and Out

Nearly a month has passed since my girlfriend and I reluctantly boarded the shuttle to Honolulu Airport for our long trip back to Boston. The 20-30 degree days here in New England have thickened my blood, and the withdrawal symptoms have begun to fade. Still, the fond memories of this amazing lacrosse event, compiled with those of years past, have added to my love for the beautiful place that is Hawaii.
Blue Chip Nationals began their second weekend with a practice at Loyola’s Ridley Athletic Complex. The Nationals are the brainchild of Ted Spencer, current Blue Chip 225 director and former head coach at Fairfield. Peter Tumbas shines some light on this elite national travel program.
LaxAllStars.com, led by Billy Nguyen, Joe Barile, John Ray, and Justin Otto moved to 2-0 with a tight 11-10 win over Rudy Martinez' Brooklyn Dodgers squad. Jeff Melnik, the creator of the video, is Brooklyn's goalie. The Gotham Goats moved to 1-1 with a win over Team America, who drops to 0-2 early in the year.
Peter Tumbas is back on LAS and he's talking about recruiting events, players who impressed, and a whole lot more down the line. In this post, Tumbas took in the NXT Philly Freshmen and Senior Showcases, and now he names some players who impressed!
LaxAllStars.com got back on track with a win during week one of ULax's outdoor Winter box lacrosse league in Manhattan. The website's squad took down Team America (although with a name like that, winning made us feel awful) with relative ease, but it was really encouraging to see so many new faces to box lacrosse from the fine fellows in blue. I'd expect this team to improve greatly as the Winter season rolls along.
