This Week’s GET JACKED! - Scott is back with a workout article perfect for staying in shape over the summer. If you can’t always make it to the gym, you’re going to need a simple, effective way to stay in peak condition. Welcome to Kettleball Workouts 101 with your video professor Scott Umberger.
Lacrosse isn’t just a game, it’s a lifestyle. Catch up on what’s cool here, and live the lax lifestyle everyday.
Has everybody already heard this Lil Wayne “Kobe Bryant” song? I can’t begin without addressing what a crime this is. How come Spike “Knick Fan for Life” Lee didn’t soundtrack “Kobe Talkin to Teammates” with this song? Also, is Kobe’s new game face intense or painful to watch? Does he just “Want A Championship That Bad” (copyright pending), or does he have indigestion?
Sometimes it’s hard enough just dealin with real life
Sometimes I wanna jump on stage and just kill mics
And show these people what my level of skill’s like..
Step aside fools because Beaver lacrosse has some rhymes coming your way…
To quote the mid-90′s sensation C & C Music Factory: Y’all ready for this? It’s that the time again where I drop some tasty treats on to the interwebs. Today we have two selections from the remix album by DFA, two New York based producers/DJ’s.
Lacrosse has always been more to me than just a sport. Struggling to find a place as a public school kid at a Catholic High School, lacrosse gave me (amongst hundreds of other things) access to a great group of friends, friends that I’ve stayed close with for years.
“Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the postmen from their appointed rounds.” The game of lacrosse might as well steal this motto from the Postal service because, unlike baseball, lacrosse games are played during every kind of weather (minus lightning of course).
Add this video to the list of things you would never see on a lacrosse field. I’m not sure which is worse: this flopping travesty or the video of baseball players doing the macarana. Other sports should be ashamed of themselves. Tsk Tsk.
It’s a special Tuesday edition of GMODT nation, don’t think I forgot about you! Today we have the one and only Oasis, who just so happen to be the authors of the first CD I ever bought! That would be “Definitely Maybe”, their first album in 1994.
(Editor’s Note: Last weeks ‘Lax Newb Chronicles’ is old news for now but we’ve taken the idea of non-lacrosse specific themes that are relevant to ALL sports and created the ‘LAS Cheap Seats‘. Here is another gem from the guy you love to argue with: LandBeforeTime)
Yo, stop: GMODT time. I hope everyone had fun watching lacrosse tournaments and series deciding basketball games this weekend, and your ready to start off Monday right- on this website. On a side note, I have had the privilege of seeing into the future of this site, and let me tell you, it’s bright. Like, lens flare in the new “Star Trek” movie bright. Big things, people.
This Week’s GET JACKED! - What do all of the teams competing for championships right now have in common? Sacrifice. Get ready because the blood, sweat, and tears are only starting. It’s never too early to prepare for a productive off-season. Dedicate yourself to getting better and next year you will be the one holding that trophy instead of hanging out on your couch.
Editor’s note: Being a lacrosse fan puts you in the unique position of appreciating not only one sport, but a variety of sports that use the same basic skills. Basketball has similar fast breaks and zone defenses, football has raw physical violence, and soccer/hockey have vaguely similar rules and field set ups. With that in mind we welcome you to “The Lax Newb Chronicles”.
Today kids, we sloooooow it up. Stress got you down? Still pumped up from last weeks post (and sexy boots)? Then I think I have just the thing for you… some songs from mellow chillout artists like “Kid Loco” and “Thunderball”, and to class it up, the last track from Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue”.
This Week’s GET JACKED! - Sometimes it’s about more than just strength and conditioning. In this week’s post, Scott talks about the training that needs to happen between your ears. Let’s discuss outworking the competition. Let’s chat about “win or go home ” because it’s playoff time in LaxNation. Where will amazing happen this year?
Alright, get ready and try to experience what I’m about to chirp in your lobes, it’s Get Mitch or Die Trying! Today’s lesson- remixes! A remix can be many things, but mostly it’s an excuse for someone to say “while this song currently goes to 10, I think I can give it that extra something that makes it go to 11“.
This week we have another exciting 2-part podcast:
Part I - Mr. BS, Striding Man, and Wheniwasakid talk about lacrosse in Australia, traditional vs. mesh, Loyola vs. Hopkins, and even the dreaded swine flu
Part II (starts at 20:33) – Interview with the creator of an online lacrosse petition for an EA Sports Lacrosse video game. Take a listen!
This Week’s GET JACKED! - The dedication and sacrifice needed to become a champion also means you have to be a little crazy….maybe even a little delusional in the head. Winners fight and claw when any sane person would quit. It’s time to learn what it takes. Come on up and get down with the sickness.
Thanks for bearing with us these past few days, LaxNation. We’ve been working on a lil of the business side of the site and the posts have been few and far between. Trust me when I say that we have some good things cooking in the LAS kitchen and paitence is a virture / a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush / don’t pee into a strong wind / never pet a burning dog…yadda yadda yadda. Thanks for all the support and look for more amazing lacrosse content coming your way. Jermaine of Flight of the Concords said it best…
Welcome all to another Monday!…another Monday made that much better by Get Mitch or Die Trying. I’ll keep it simple and straight to the point- today we have a young man from Cleveland, Ohio who goes by the name Kid Cudi. He’s about to expand your mind.
