When I was a freshman in high school, I tried out for the varsity basketball team. Just before our first scrimmage two of the upperclassmen got into some kind of trouble and weren’t going to be allowed to compete.
Lacrosse isn’t just a game, it’s a lifestyle. Catch up on what’s cool here, and live the lax lifestyle everyday.
You might as well call this week the soft hands challenge. The goal of this week is to push your boundaries. Keep throwing the ball as high as you can testing your hands, the higher the better.
Recently, Alex Schmotter reached out to us to tell us about pHenOH 7.4, the world’s first alkaline sports drink, and its Indiegogo campaign. Schmotter, the founder and CEO of Phenoh, Inc., played four years of lacrosse at Cal Poly and was named a 2011 2nd-Team All-American.
Happy Friday! Last night I watched a high school football game. It was a game. I’m not sure that I could call it a competition since it wasn’t very competitive. Although … as in most sports, there are little competitions inside the game. In lacrosse, who wins the ground ball battles? In basketball, who wins the rebounding battles? There’s also competition to see who plays with the most energy and enthusiasm.
If you’ve been paying attention to the site lately, you’ve seen us promoting The Medicine Game film with previews, trailers, and interviews. We’ve also highlighted a Wooden Stick Exposition in Syracuse, which is taking place this weekend. Alongside all of that, we have posted three highly informative posts on the history of the sport from Gordon Corsetti. There is definitely a theme at play here… The quote “Know thyself” has been attributed to a number of different people, and its importance is celebrated throughout philosophy. Since so…
Good morning! Today’s Words of Wisdom are from an article I came across earlier this week, titled “12 Ways to Accomplish More by Doing Less.” We all, at some point, feel that we are doing too much. Sometimes it’s by default, because we have a lot on our plates. Sometimes it’s our own fault, because we haven’t realized that saying “NO” is OK. At any rate, this article offers some great suggestions as to how to be more productive. The…
Did you miss The Medicine Game on TV this week? Maybe it wasn’t showing in your neck of the woods, or you couldn’t find it, or you just missed it, and now you’re kicking yourself… well, stop it, because now you can watch the FULL feature film online thanks to PBS!
We recently learned that Eric Law has taken a job with Denver City Lax, so we sat down with DCL’s Ben Allison to talk about this new hire, and what DCL has in store for the future. The Denver City Lax guys are true Game Growers, and we’re excited to see more professional lacrosse players of Law’s stature getting involved!
Are we a lacrosse site? Sure, we are! But that doesn’t mean we can’t share things that strike us amazing, and the video above certainly qualifies. Demetrius de Moors obviously didn’t read our Hot Pot post this morning, but he’s a shining example of what Connor was talking about.
While visiting Boise, Idaho, Kyle Harrison spent time teaching local lacrosse players how to appropriately and efficiently shoot the ball while starting with the stick head low and finishing with the ball hitting the top of the net.
Success in life is all about finding an opportunity, and then pushing that chance to the limit with honest dedication and passion. Shortcuts and divergent paths are always present, and staying on the straight and narrow is a constant battle in our society. Keeping your sights set on the bigger picture is easier said than done, but it’s still the best way that I know to make good on your lot in life.
“If you stop learning today, you stop leading tomorrow.”- Howard Hendricks None of us needs to know everything about everything. But chances are we do need to know everything about something, and it’s probably to our benefit to know something about a lot of things.
Mike Brand is back on LAS with another killer Summer Photos post. Mike has been traversing the country, and seeing a ton of lacrosse, and now he’s sharing that experience with us.
The Medicine Game promises to be entertaining as the story is a good one, but I think many people will also find it eye-opening and educational, and this latter part pushed me to try to learn more before seeing the film tonight on TV. I was lucky enough to catch up with the film’s Writer, Jason Halpin, as well as the film’s Director, Luke Korver, via email, and they answered some pressing questions for us…
Lacrosse, Tommy Hilfiger, and Hong Kong…what do they have in common? The fact that Bates alum Rory Baldini spotted a lacrosse stick in this Tommy Hilfiger window in Hong Kong!
A few months back, I introduced you to two young emerging talents in the rap game, Logic and Chance The Rapper. Well those two have continued to impress me and recently put out some new singles that I wanted to bring to you as a follow up edition on this Monday night. Moving forward, don’t forget about these two as they continue to make noise and turn heads.
I caught up with Greg Gurenlian the other week to cover Team USA tryouts and his Face Off Academy camps and clinics. I also asked Greg to demonstrate the perfect pinch’n'pop face off move, and the Beast delivered, so much so that I think I could actually win a face off using this technique now.
Good morning! MOTIVATION MONDAY Yesterday’s church service, was not one of my favorites. But the message was solid. It was about embracing change, and allowing change to open us up to the blessings in store for us. Ironically, as I pulled out of the parking lot, the first song that came on the radio was Kirk Franklin’s “Today.” The first verse starts as follows:

America ReFramed is a program on PBS that looks at America through 26 different films, where each film is either 60 or 90 minutes long. On September 24th, at 8pm, PBS will air America ReFramed: The Medicine Game, and I can’t wait to watch this 90 minutes special on Jeremy Thompson and his brother Jerome.
