On the eve of the West Division Semifinal, the gear of Colorado Mammoth goaltender Dillon Ward is still missing. However, the team has found a temporary solution that will allow the star rookie to play in Saturday’s game against Calgary.
This weekend kicks off the 2013-14 NLL post-season featuring Buffalo Bandits vs. Toronto Rock in the East and Colorado Mammoth vs. Calgary Roughnecks for the West.
At 45, Buffalo Bandits captain John Tavares has been answering questions about when he might retire for 10 years now. He said it was rare back then for a player to be competitive past age 35 but Tavares has been able to defy the odds.

John Grant Junior recently hit a huge NLL milestone: 600 career goals. Junior is only the third player to hit this mark, joining John Tavares and Gary Gait in the 600 club. Only two weeks left in the NLL regular season and the playoff picture is almost complete. Toronto knocked Philly out of playoff contention and punched their ticket to the big dance simultaneously. The East Division is now all locked up – Minnesota and Philadelphia are warming up their golf games already. The first two seeds are Edmonton and Calgary respectively. Colorado earned a big win over Edmonton this past weekend control their own destiny – one more win gets them into the playoffs or a Stealth loss.

There are only a few weeks left in the NLL season and the playoff race is in full force. Rochester and Edmonton have locked up a playoff spot in the East and West respectively. Buffalo and Calgary are good position as well and can lock up playoff berths with at least one more win. The rest of the league is clamoring for the last two spots. The race couldn’t be closer as Philadelphia and Vancouver have gained wins recently.
We are absolutely loving Garrett Thul right now. The man was a beast at Army, and when he played in the Salt Shakerz tourney a couple years back he was unstoppable. Now, he’s one of 30 guys vying for 23 spots on Team USA, and he’s ripping it up as a rookie in the National Lacrosse League.
