The Ohio Machine announced the upcoming debut of the first overall selection from the 2014 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft, midfielder Tom Schreiber. Schreiber will take the field for the first time with the Machine on Saturday, May 10, against the Florida Launch in Boca Raton, Fla. The game will be televised live on SportsTime Ohio at 7 p.m. EST.

Toronto Rock all-star forward Stephan Leblanc was invited to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a Toronto Blue Jays game this weekend.
When it was announced that the LXM PRO and the MLL would partner up, and that players from both camps could now play in both leagues, there was a lot of talk of who could “make the jump” to Major League Lacrosse. A range of opinions were offered as analysts tried to decide who could cut the mustard, and guesses ranged from up to 6 players to as many as 20.
After only two weeks of play, Denver stands alone atop the leaderboard. The Outlaws are the only undefeated team in the league, as opposed to last season, where three teams saw the 3-0 mark, and the Nationals and Outlaws made it to 5-0 before having to square off against one another. Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hounds are camped out in the 0-2 basement, and the rest of the league is sitting at 1-1.
Despite wet conditions the Florida Launch powered their way to an 11-8 victory over the Charlotte Hounds. The Launch seized their first win in the short history of the team and are now 1-1 on the season.
On the eve of the West Division Semifinal, the gear of Colorado Mammoth goaltender Dillon Ward is still missing. However, the team has found a temporary solution that will allow the star rookie to play in Saturday’s game against Calgary.

This month, MLL recognizes Machine midfielder Dominique Alexander for his outstanding community work in the city of Columbus. Alexander arrived in Ohio’s capital city back in 2009 as a freshman at The Ohio State University. As a Buckeye, Alexander amassed 95 points, was named an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete all four years and co-captained the team alongside now-teammate Logan Schuss. However, it was also at Ohio State where Alexander truly started donating his time to others.

Which team will end up in Atlanta four months from now, hoisting the Steinfeld Cup and doing the Nae Nae or whatever it is they’re doing in Atlanta four months from now? No idea whatsoever, but it’s time to find out, so let’s start things off with a team-by-team season preview.
