CityLax (New York City) uses a public-private partnership model to develop and expand the game of lacrosse inside New York City public schools. The not-for-profit provides grants, equipment, free year round player clinics, PSAL trophies, coaches’ clinics in the Winter, and acts as a resource for the sport within the five boroughs of NYC.
In November, Team USA players visited San Clemente for a boys lacrosse clinic. This past weekend, San Clemente once again played host to a US Lacrosse clinic, this time a girls clinic coached by women’s national team players. MaxLaxOC was at both events, and captured some great footage.
Lax School has been killing it with old videos thanks to Billy Daye, Bill Millman, and Randy Fraser. These guys have stacks of VHS being converted to YouTube videos, and their most recent unveiling, of the 1992 Vail Finals, is another gem.
The Minnesota Swarm made the trek to Rochester, NY to take on the Knighthawks in preseason NLL action, and the game was exciting from the get go. If the regular season lives up to the goodness that was this scrimmage, the National Lacrosse League is in for a great year.
End Caps, a weekly review from the mind of Mark Donahue. Every weekend he will refresh your memory on what happened over the last 7 or so days. Lacrosse news and junk from the world around us! This week: Holiday Guides, 4 days with Notre Dame and more (12/14/2013)
Welcome to Forum Friday! Everyday there are great conversations taking place in the LAS Community. If you haven’t signed up yet, make sure you do! And while you’re at it, you might as well watch this silly video update we created too. We hope it provides you with an easy way to connect with other lacrosse fans all over the […]
The lacrosse world championships traveled down under to Perth, Australia in 1990 but playing in the Southern Hemisphere didn’t do much to change the pecking order for national teams. Canada and the US obviously matched up for a great game and the video picks up the play with the US up 5-2 early in the second quarter.
A few weekends ago, the Adrenaline High Rollers: SoCal recruiting event took place at Orange Coast College. Our friends at MaxLaxOC attended the event and put together two awesome videos, including a video of the High School All-Star game.
It was my first time fixing up a woodie, but the stick came out great, and throws on a dime. It was so nice that I convinced myself I could shoot a skeet pigeon out of the air… I did come pretty close!
LaxAllStars.com, led by Billy Nguyen, Joe Barile, John Ray, and Justin Otto moved to 2-0 with a tight 11-10 win over Rudy Martinez’ Brooklyn Dodgers squad. Jeff Melnik, the creator of the video, is Brooklyn’s goalie. The Gotham Goats moved to 1-1 with a win over Team America, who drops to 0-2 early in the year.
Ivan Negrojević sent over another killer video from Serbia about the growth of lacrosse in the country. The video also features Brian Gorodeztky, a Canadian player living in Belgrade, who brought lacrosse to Serbia. In case you need some English to understand what’s happening, Brian provides it.
I spoke about the USCLA a couple of weeks ago, and I’m not sure that the true excellence of the game got through in my post. Thankfully, the fine fellas over at LaxSchool loaded up a video from 1999 featuring Duke Tobay LC and the Commonwealth/Brine Outlaws. Duke played in the Empire Division, and Brine was usually the top dog in the Yankee Division.
I’m pretty sure this will never become super popular amongst college players or coaches, but for the kids who really hone their F/O craft, it’s impressive, and adds another level of challenge to winning a draw. This time around it’s Kieran Lee, a 2015 player out of Pine River HS in New York. Like Stephen Cuccurullo, Lee is also a FoGolax.net product.
The waves crashing in multiple locations is pretty epic, and the bird eating a fish out of guy’s hand on the beach mid-flight is pretty darn cool. Pumped I got that on video! I even brought two mini-sticks with me to PR, which I had picked up from Throne of String a couple of days before. Always getting a little wall ball in. No excuses!
Even though a good deal of the local NYC box lacrosse talent was in Hawaii last weekend, LaxAllStars still put together a solid squad of guys to make the early morning trek down to Philadelphia, to take on a local club, the Athletics, in a good old-fashioned game of box lacrosse.
