Its about the long term improvment. Having your star player score 10 goals against a weak team means he gets a bit of shooting practise but the rest of the team don’t learn anything.
However if your 2nd string mids put up some points, when it comes to championship game and they’re needed to replace an injured starter.. they’re going to be much more effective.

Even in a college game, if you’re up by 15 in the 3rd, you should be doing something differently. Making players use their off hands is one idea, but there are many others. Beating a team 30-2 makes you look like a bad sport.
Playing with your off hand let’s you get work in, both teams can compete a bit more… but the real point is the first one… YOUR teams gets work in. It’s not about the other team, or making it competitive really… that’s just a secondary occurence. The point is, how do you get work in during a blowout. Scoring 30 isn’t the answer. Just ask Tierney or Berkman or Quinn or Daly or Danowski or Corrigan…

Each team signs up for 60 minutes of lacrosse. If your team gets crushed, then get better, or don’t play against teams that are going to make a fool out of you until you are ready. This is not show friends, it’s show business.
