No assists, poor face offs, bad transitions. Ducks don’t play like a team, they play like individuals trying out for a team. Its a huge roster surely they have someone who can step up.

While I don’t believe comparative scoring (especially from scrimmages!) should be used as fact, it does lead me to believe Michigan is beatable, that is, if MCLA teams are as good as I think they are. With Oregon, Chapman, BYU, BC, UCSB, CSU, ASU and MSU on the slate of upcoming games, I could see them losing one. I don’t think Oregon will do it personally and think Michigan will run away with it this weekend. All of the other teams are capable, but they’ll need to put together one heck of a game. It’s not incumbent on Michigan to play poorly, but these teams definitely need to bring their A game for a shot at a W.
Oregon could do it, I just don’t see the turnaround happening that quickly. I’ve been wrong before though!

It is too early in the season to declare Michigan undefeated for the year. On the other hand, the level of support, organization and coaching make them an absolute juggernaut in the MCLA. It is hard to imagine that just their cleaning up the on the MCLA will affect their NCAA D1 chances since teams going varsity seem to almost always start fresh. (Take the situation at Marquette for example).

D1 has been on the horizon for that program for several years, it is just official now. Regardless, beating them is a tall order for any MCLA squad.

this is the most well written article assessing what is going on in Oregon right now. The team seems to lack the spark that it has been known for having in the past. Hopefully the boys in the green and yellow can buckle down and get out to the field despite having lives and school work and work on those shots and footwork outside of practice, because anyone who has been there knows that it takes that extra time before, after and on off days to go out and improve yourself. Lets just hope the boys are willing to make sacrifices and get out there.

I hadn’t considered it being a “distraction” until I read this comment, and
I think you have an interesting perspective. Thinking about it, I know I
would be distracted with the idea of going D1 if I were an underclassman on
the team. Something tells me JP and his staff have things under control
though…

You hit the nail on the head with those side-armed shots. Drives me NUTS when kids do that. It’s the reason we do 15 minutes of shooting drills at EVERY practice. Good call.

How does “preparing for D1″ change anything? It’s still the same club team for now. If anything I’d say it’s a distraction.

the Ducks still have a really good shot at the PNCLL Championship and so they can still find a way to the National Tournament… after that anything can happen… really too early to say.

Nice write-up Connor. I was curious as to what was plaguing the Ducks to start the season but it sounds like you may have identified a few areas of concern. I’m interested to see if they can get things turned around…
