I agree. While it is nice to see your nation compete in sports that they have a shot winning or medaling, I've enjoyed seeing events that I know very little to nothing about and learning about the sport seeing the best athletes in it. I must have watched all of the fencing events and I was glued to each match, granted I still don't know how some points were scored. Seeing those athletes who have lived and breathed a sport that most people have no clue about did strike close to the heart. Lacrosse is a somewhat popular sport but outside of our community people know very little about it. If the media did give more air time to the sports that people don't know much about then some kids may see it and look to their parents and say "Mom/Dad can I learn that?" and instantly the sport begins to grow. I would love to see the media take a chance and try to help grow the olympics by encouraging new events to the viewers instead of going just for raitings and profits. Will I ever see that? Most likely not. But we can all have the olympic dream can't we?

totally agree - I love watching USA, but it's also very exciting to watch the best in the world and pinnacle of athletics across multiple events that I don't normally get to watch. Show me some of that too!

Thank you for making me feel like I am not the only one in the world who feels this way. You really put my feelings into words well, and I might just have to use some of your points in my next debate about this with someone hah.
