Also, apparently I was wrong in my first post, based on the NCAA’s page Bellarmine would be allowed to offer scholarships, unsure if they do though.

I am pretty sure Bellarmine was one of the LAST schools to be granted a waiver to have one sport play up a level.

FYI Bellarmine is D-1 in Men’s lax only, all the other sports play D-2. So they could still go D-1 if they wanted to but they would be unable to offer any scholarships.

people go to SU to win championships! these kids could to a lot of schools but CHOOSE Salisbury. Couldn’t agree more. Although SU is a pretty good school. turns out a lot of successful people!

I think they’d lose some recruits if they went D1. great comment.

Play 2 games a day for 3 days? Are you insane? Playing on back to back days is a huge challenge physically. 2 games in one day would be terrible for the players. This ain’t summer ball.

I’m from Salisbury and from what I heard, if they went D1 they would lose a lot of their top recruits to better academic schools in the area.

because entire athletic departments would have to make the move, and not just certain programs. NCAA doesn’t like moving just ONE team.

me too! but probably won’t ever happen. there’s no benefit for either team when it comes to NCAA qualifying.

that would be pretty cool to see. Most years it would be the D1 teams in the finals, but I’d still LOVE to see it!

Why don’t they do the whole relegation system like there is in soccer. last ranked teams get moved down, top teams in the lower division get moved up.
