Overcoming Obstacles

[Leaders] can deal with things as they are because they have dreamed of what they can be.

Challenges and obstacles are not setbacks unless we allow them to be. Whether it’s a daily task or an entrepreneurial venture, the end goal is what keeps us inspired; the vision of how great the accomplishment of the goal will be. That’s what we rely on when things get tough. It’s our mental, physical, spiritual or emotional insurance package. When our plan of attack is interrupted it can be rather frustrating. In fact, sometimes it’s flat out painful. But that’s where our tenacity is tested. We have to be willing to look at the obstacles with the understanding that “this too shall pass,” and that there’s something greater beyond the now. In lacrosse and basketball, there’s usually a span during the game where things aren’t clicking for us, but they are for the other team. In football, a team is driving the ball down the field, and it seems like we can’t get a stop. At that point, it becomes about weathering the storm, minimizing mistakes, getting a few stops, and then going on our own run.

Life is the same way. There will be times when it seems like nothing is going the way you need it to go. But the pendulum almost always swings back the other way at some point. As challenges arise, find a way to navigate around them, through them, or over them, knowing that your vision of what will be is greater than the obstacle that is.

Make it a GREAT day!

Stay blessed.
