Yinzers at the Next Level

Welcome to a new weekly series that will track the progress of Pittsburgh athletes at the next level… playing college lacrosse! As Pittsburgh has improved over time, the area has produced more and more high level talent. We are now at the point where tracking Pittsburgh players in college should be a thing. And now it is.

NCAA D1

Brown – Senior Will Round (Mt. Lebanon) made 3 saves in a 15-2 loss to UMass. This was Round’s first appearance of the year.

Marquette – Freshman Andy DeMichiei (Hampton) registered his first career point, an assist, in a 16-12 loss to Marist.

Robert Morris – Senior Brian Bohn (Seneca Valley) made 4 saves in a 18-12 loss to Drexel. He has 30 saves on the season.

NCAA D2

Mercyhurst – Senior Jake McAndrew (Seneca Valley) tallied 1 goal and 2 assists in a 12-5 win over Pfeiffer. He has 4 goals and 2 assists the season.

Seton Hill – Freshman Zach Rusch (Bethel Park) scored two goals in his first career game against Ohio Valley. Sophomore Anthony Peluso (North Allegheny) went 11 for 19 at the face off X against Chestnut Hill. He scored once and was 16 for 22 against NYIT. He started the season 14 of 21 against Ohio Valley.

NCAA D3

Baldwin-Wallace – Freshmen Luke Happel (Hampton) tallied 2 goals in his first collegiate game against Alfred State. BW won 18-2.

Denison – Junior Drew Newman (Upper St. Clair) is entering his second year as a starter at close defense. Seneca Valley products Will Koontz, Derek Finney, Cole Fyock are no longer with the team.

Dickinson – Senior Max Pawk (Sewickley) is the starting netminder. He has 30 saves through 4 games. Sophomore Rob Kendall (Sewickley) has 3 goals and 2 assists.

Gettysburg – Junior Bijan Firouzan (Mt. Lebanon) scored once in a loss against Salisbury. He has 4 goals and 2 assists in three games this season.

McDaniel – Freshman Timothy McNichol (Mt. Lebanon) scored a goal in his first career game against Mary Washington.

MCLA

Pitt – Freshman Mike Cikovic (Pine Richland) tallied 4 goals in 20-10 win over George Washington. He has 4 goals on the season.

Wisconsin – Sewickley products Matt Peter (transfer from Tampa) and Ed Lally (transfer from Towson) are no longer on the roster. The duo combined for 94 points last season. Lally was an Honorable Mention All American.
