Music Monday: Those Pesky Kids II

Editor’s Note: Please welcome Nate Fritts to the Lacrosse All Stars! This isn’t his first time on the site of course, we had the pleasure of meeting Nate on the Rhino Lacrosse Camp Tour a couple summers back. Nate hails from Portland, Oregon, played at Bowdoin College (NESCAC) in Maine, and now resides in Boston, MA where he researches concussions and brain diseases when he’s not laxing.

With summer well underway, we wanted to up your weekly dosage of music, so we decided to double our music offering to you. Each Monday, Michael Allen will take the morning detail, and Nate Fritts will continue to knock out the night hours. Everybody wins! Check out all the Music Monday posts here!

A few months back, we hit you with an edition of Music Monday titled “Those Pesky Kids,” full of new music by some ridiculously young artists that make a guy like me feel old these days. Consider today’s post the second installment of that series. I’m pleased to bring you a couple of absolute bangers by some of the youngest artists around – the kind of guys who make J Biebz and T Swift seem like the masters division.

Martin Garrix – “Animals”

Introducing the 17 year old Dutch beat-building mastermind Martin Garrix. His newest single “Animals” topped the Beatport charts, making him the youngest musician to ever do so. I was introduced to this track by my roommates who constantly listen to the BPM channel on Sirius XM, where this song has been tearing it up. Furthermore, I heard that at last weekend’s Tomorrowland, just about every DJ performed a remix rendition of Garrix’s “Animals.”

MKTO – “Classic”

Believe it or not, Malcolm Kelly and Tony Oiler, aka “MKTO” (very original), met on the cast of a Nickelodeon show in 2010…Since then, the two have began to create a poppy hip-hop sound of music which has recently brought us the single “Classic.” There is no better description for this upbeat dance party song then its title and recently, this has been on both our pregame and late night dance party playlists. Thanks go out again to a special lady who turned me onto this track.
