Spartan Bold: Blue & Gold

I promised some behind the scenes coverage of the The University of North Carolina at Greensboro Spartans lax program a while back, and I haven’t really delivered.

Until now.

We opened our season in Rock Hill, SC, in a tournament with Winthrop University and Wofford College.  Southern Virginia was also supposed to be there, but they backed out due to weather issues. The first game played was Winthrop vs Wofford with Winthrop winning 7-6. As the winners, they sat out game 2. UNCG opened up their season with a 17-3 win over Wofford.

The last game of the day came between the host, Winthrop, and UNCG. The Spartans came away with a big 20-2 win, opening the season 2-0.

Our next game was scheduled for Valentine’s Day, but snow ruined those plans. We were to face East Carolina University. Instead, we had a weekend off to prepare for our toughest competition of the season, my old school, UNC Charlotte.

About the Author: The Lax picked up his first stick when he stepped on campus at MCLA D2 school UNC Charlotte. After taking a short break, he returned to the field for independent UNCG. The Lax enjoys flowers, pictures of unicorns, long walks on the beach, and above all else, beating people with his D-Pole.
