The GREAT Life: Attitude, Part 4

There’s more to a positive attitude than our reaction – or lack thereof – to the world around us. It’s more than just looking at the bright side of things. A positive attitude also involves our approach to ourselves. How confident are we in our own skin? How confident are we in our own abilities?

Rather than focusing on what you aren’t, focus on what you ARE. Rather than focusing on what you cannot do, focus on what you CAN do. Instead of giving life to your shortcomings and faults, allow your strengths to blossom and shine through.

The way that we speak and think about ourselves and our lives has tremendous power over what manifests in our day to day reality. Eliminate the two words “STRESS” and “CAN’T” from your vocabulary. Life may or may not get easier. But I can promise you that it will become more manageable.

Every morning we wake up, we have the opportunity to approach life with confidence. It’s more than waking up and saying, “Ahhh … Today will be a GREAT day!” That’s a start. But then we have to follow through. It’s not enough to say it. It’s got to seep from our pores. We have to believe that:

1) Today will be a GREAT day because I choose it.

2) There’s nobody and nothing that can shake me from feeling GREAT today.

3) Whatever comes my way, I am capable of handling. And If I’m TRULY not capable of handling it myself, then it’s not worth wasting mental energy on.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
– Marianne Williamson
