Wednesday Lacrosse Games To Watch

If you’re looking for games on TV, look no further than our list of Televised 2012 Lacrosse games, but if you want to know ALL the games to keep an eye on this Wednesday, then I’ve got you covered right here!  There’s some killer action going down this hump day.  Stay on top of it all with LAS!

Now if you’re looking for top flight D1 action, you’re out of luck.  There aren’t any great D1 games today.  But the D2 and D3 games in the NCAA more than make up for it.

The top game of the day, regardless of division, is probably Dickinson @ Cabrini.  Dickinson has really high hopes for 2012 (some think they are a Top 5 team) and Cabrini just game off a dominant performance over Haverford that very few (except LongStick33) saw coming.  Cabrini has long been plagued as a team that just couldn’t knock off another “top level” team, but this game is a chance for them to prove us all wrong… again.

The top D2 game of the day has to be Molloy @ Dowling.  It seems like one of these two teams is a contender almost every year, but it’s usually not BOTH of them.  This game is big because it seriously begins to separate the cream from the pack in D2, and will have implications for the rest of the season if either of these squads want to make noise in the NCAAs.  The fact that this game could be played in heavy snow or rain makes for an better setting.

The other interesting NCAA games today are Goucher @ Gettysburg (DIII) and Keene State @ Bates (DIII). Goucher is looking up in 2012, but the program needs to beat the Bullets for anyone to take them seriously.  Bates may be a bottom half NESCAC team, but they’re still very good and will give Keene a serious run for their money.  If Keene can beat Bates they might be a Top 20 team.  If Bates can win BIG, then maybe they’ll really compete in 2012.

Over on the MCLA side of things, we only have three games going down, but all three are worth talking about just a bit.  The first one that jumps out is Cal Poly at UCSB.  Cal Poly is 4-0, with 3 of their wins coming against Oregon, BYU and Cal; all top 20 teams.  UCSB is also 4-0, with two of their wins coming against Stanford and upstart 2012 team Chico State.  Poly has taken the last 2 regular season wins, but the games have been tight.  Expect another great one!

Loyola Marymount plays at Texas State, and this is a great chance for TS to get a good win, and keep  improving.  They ate 2-3 right now, but have two solid wins, and three relatively close losses.  We’ll give the edge to State by 1 at home.  The last game to watch for is Northeastern @ Boston University. BU isn’t NCAA D1 yet, so this game is wide open!  This is BU’s first game of the year, while Northeastern is 3-0 already, with a trip down South, and wins over Vandy, LSU and Bama already under their belt.  We think BU is better, but Northeastern is game-tested.  Expect a great game!

For our bonus BLOW OUT OF THE DAY Pick, we’re going with Salisbury CRUSHING McDaniel in NCAA DIII action.  We’re sure that people will start the “Salisbury to D1” call again, so prep yourself for that by finding out Why Salisbury Should Never Go D1 In Lacrosse!
