2015 MLL Predictions: Week 12

Last week I nailed all of my predictions simply because I didn’t make any! That’s an easy way to get nothing wrong, but it doesn’t feel nearly as good as actually getting things right, so I’m back this week picking MLL games for week 12! I don’t have any more camps or coaching to do this year, so I can get back to full-time lacrosse watching for the rest of the summer. For those of you wondering, my playing days are WAY behind me…

In week 10, which I will now call upset week, I got only one game right, and that was the Boston-Florida one goal barn burner. That dropped my record of picking winnners correctly to 21-15, and now I have to climb the mountain again to put some distance between myself and the dreaded .500 picking average!

Top 10 Plays – Week 11

2015 MLL Predictions – Week 12

New York @ Chesapeake – Thursday, July 2nd, 7:30pm ET – Paul Rabil returned for New York, so obviously I was picking the Lizards. They were 8-0 with Paul, and 0-2 without him. That’s simple math. Unfortunately for me, this game was played before I published this post, so the winning pick won’t count. I’ll need to make up for it with the other three games! They’re all tough calls, so I’ll need some smarts, and some luck!

Charlotte @ Florida – Friday, July 3rd, 7:30pm ET – This is a HUGE game for both squads. FLA is 2-8, and CHA is 3-7 so both franchises simply NEED wins to salvage their season. I’ll take Florida at home in this one, but this game is a toss up to me, and both teams should bring their best efforts. If you’re in or around Boca Raton, make sure you hit this one up in person!

Rochester @ Ohio – Saturday, July 4th, 4pm ET – Early on, Rochester seemed to have some problems, but their offense has really come around, and their D looks ready to make the next leap. While Ohio continues to impress me (like in their win over Rochester last week), I have to take Rochester in this one. I’m sure the #OilUp crew is ready to prove me wrong though.

Boston @ Denver – Saturday, July 4th, 9pm ET – This is Denver’s biggest night of the year, and the franchise knows how important a win can be to attracting new fans, and they get PLENTY of those on the 4th of July! 25-35,000 will crowd the stadium late in the game, and that can often be enough to propel Denver to a win. It’s not always that simple, but in this case, it might be!

Attendance Notes

Franchise – 2015 Attendance Average (+/- change from last week)
Chesapeake – 6,294 from 4,715 (+1,579) – HUGE week of over 11,000 last game!
Boston – 5,936 from 5,681 (+255)
Denver – 5,809 from 5,750 (+59)
New York – 5,158 from 4,705 (+453)
Ohio – 2,508 from 2,433 (+75)
Charlotte – 2,286 from 2,203 (+83)
Florida – 1,667 from 1,792 (-125)
Rochester – 1,151 from 1,122 (+29)

The attendance standings should change a LOT for next week, with four teams projecting good numbers this 4th of July weekend. Chesapeake got almost 12,000 fans on Thursday night, Denver always does well on the 4th, but can Florida and Ohio boost their numbers with similar fan turnouts? Ohio has been doing ok so far, but could use the boost. Florida would benefit greatly from a game with 10,000 fans… can they do it this year? Is this weekend their best chance?

MLL guys do the dirty work to stay at the top of their game, even during the season. 6am conditioning and practice in Brooklyn, NY? Yup, that’s a thing!
