2015 MLL Predictions: Week 8

Week 8 of Major League Lacrosse is upon us, and now that we’re halfway done with the season, we have a much better idea of who’s hot, and who is struggling. My picks for Week 7 were perfect, as they were in Week 6, so hopefully I stay on a roll for Week 8! My overall correct-incorrect picking record stands tall at 16-8, and as Jack Nicholson said in Mars Attacks!:

Yeah, 2 outta 3 ain’t bad at all. Meat Loaf also said that.

Before we get to the Week 8 MLL Predictions, let’s check out the Top 10 Plays from Week 7. Always good stuff in the top 10!

Top 10 Plays – Week 7

2015 MLL Predictions – Week 8

Ohio @ DenverFriday, May 29th, 9pm ET – Denver seems tough at home, so even though Ohio seems to be surging right now, I’ll take Denver in a tight one on home turf. Play this game in Ohio and I’m going Machine. For the trip out to Colorado, overcoming the home field advantage plays a serious part, and I don’t know if Ohio is quite there… yet! Ohio is a team to watch though for sure.

Florida @ Boston – Saturday, May 30th, 6pm ET – Boston is another team that seems to be surging forward, and I like where they started from a bit more than Ohio. Playing at home, I like them to win. I also think Florida still needs more time to gel, but if the Launch make the playoffs, they could be dangerous late.

New York @ Charlotte – Saturday, May 30th, 7pm ET – You have to pick New York here. They sit up top and 6-0, and Charlotte sits at 1-5, tied for last place. But this game could definitely be tight, and an upset always looms when you’re perfect thus far. I like New York to win, but if that team takes a night off, they can lose, just like anyone else.

Rochester @ Chesapeake – Saturday, May 30th, 7pm ET – I’ll take Chesapeake at home on Saturday, especially since they lost last week on the road. Both teams sit at 3-3, so this is a huge game for standings and potential head to head playoff seedings down the road.

this video should come out on the MLL YouTube channel soon. Keep an eye out for it! If you like takeaways and amazing transition play, this is your weekly jam!

Attendance Notes

Franchise – 2015 Attendance Average (+/- change from last week)
Denver – 6,356 (+431)
New York – 4,705 (same)
Chesapeake – 4,689 (same)
Boston – 4,566 (same)
Ohio – 2,433 (-177)
Charlotte – 2,081 (-10)
Florida – 1,792 (same)
Rochester – 1,122 (same)

The league average now sits 6 fans under 3,400 people game. The top four average just over 5,000 people per game. The bottom four average under 2,000 fans per games, but Charlotte and Ohio seem to have a solid base so far, which could possibly grow.

The above numbers are provided by the league, and are not independently verified. Expect the 4th of July weekend to provide a HUGE boost to a couple of teams, as those who host try to pull out all the stops to draw people in.
