Sports Science: Lacrosse Goalies

So, how do you get to be an elite lacrosse goaltender?

I have decided to offer some insight into different drills that can help boost your quickness in your movements as a keeper with these lacrosse goalie training drills.

See the video that I posted on the Lax Goalie Network:

This 9-minute video offers valuable insight into how to become a better goaltender, along with different drills that can help give an explosive first step by using resistance training bands, various tennis ball drills to help you react quicker and gather yourself faster, along with utilizing comparisons between positions in other sports that can give you an edge once spring hits.

About Adam Ghitelman

Ghitelman currently plays for Archers LC in the Premier Lacrosse League. The two-time All-American at the University of Virginia — who won the national championship in 2011 — has also played for the Team USA U-19 Men’s team, along with the Atlanta Blaze of Major League Lacrosse. The 8-year MLL veteran joined the Premier Lacrosse League as part of its inception this past season. A fun fact about Adam is that he played in the longest game in NCAA history — a seven-overtime contest against Maryland in 2009 where he recorded 22 saves.

Adam Ghitelman’s lacrosse ventures off of the field has also seen him co-found the Give & Go Foundation alongside current Archer LC long-pole and Loyola product Scott Ratliff in an effort the help spread the game of lacrosse across the world.

About The Give & Go Foundation

Here’s part of the motivation that drives founders Adam Ghitelman and Scott Ratliff to help grow the Give & Go Foundation:

“It is our belief that the sport of lacrosse, specifically organized lacrosse teams, has the power to heal and help communities grow closer together. (…) By sharing this sport with underserved programs we will be able to add massive value to the lives of the players whom we connect with.
