Austria Lacrosse Update

Austria Lacrosse Roster – 2018 FIL Championships

Austria is proud to boast an (almost) entirely homegrown program for the 2018 World Lacrosse Championships in Israel.

They’re no newcomer, and they definitely roll in style. Welcome the Austrians. Austria is proud to boast an (almost) entirely homegrown program. That one exception being their 18 year old Canadian who made it to every camp and tournament in preparation… sounds committed to me! They’re led by Austrians too, former players who have developed into coaches and managers. Austria is a well-rounded lacrosse system, fluidly moving players between field and box lacrosse work.

Their philosophy is to grow the game locally as it doesn’t help anyone to load up with North American just for the Worlds. They want to aid Austrian Lacrosse growth by showing their own countrymen how it’s done. They’re without any NCAA aid, for now, but that all may change as they continue to boost their status in the international lacrosse community.

(Check out the FULL list of FIL rosters HERE.)

This will be their 3rd time at the big games, first in 2010 (21st) and again in 2010 (28th), and they’re on the path to find some footing early. They’ve drawn the Turquoise group which will pin them against a tough Finnish squad and a developing Colombia. They can make waves, but these 23 men need to trust the process that will get them there…
