West Side Lacrosse ELITE 25 Power Rankings

Today, West Side Lacrosse released their new ELITE 25 Boys Individual Power Rankings. In a nutshell, this is a list of the best boys high school players from the Western US. According to WSL, “The Elite 25 has been selected by an independent committee of respected lacrosse figures throughout the community” that included Kevin Corrigan, Head Coach of University of Notre Dame, and Dave Campbell, Head Coach of Middlebury College. Check out the full news release here.

Preseason Conditioning for Lacrosse Players [Part 2]

STRENGTH TRAINING
aka “Kindergarten Cop’s Got Nothing On Me”

After the warm up we’d like to do exercises designed to promote power. We’d like to do them early in the workout so the nervous system is fresh and responsive. Short reps with multiple sets are the goal. These exercises can be a box jump (see video below), dumbbell snatch, squat jump, or any other quick, power producing exercise.

CollegeLAX Opens Its Doors for Christmas!

The NEW CollegeLAX Store is now up and running for the holiday season.  Check out the info below and head to the store to get your gear.

DVD’s of the 2007 & 2008 MCLA National Championships are also available.  If you need some great lacrosse to watch over winter break, these would be great.  $14 a piece and well worth it

Lacrosse Players will love the new LeBrons

Introducing the LBJ “After Six” Commercial

LeBron’s new shoes have been announced and that’s just plain awesome. We all love the LeBron’s. But that’s not the point! Nike can’t sell shoes for their soles. Nike sells shoes for the image they project – They reach out to your soul…  Well, look no further – the new Lebrons exude the persona I WANT. Anything I gotta do to get Nicole into me, I’ll happily do – Even if it means hookin her up with a pair of LBJ’s.

Video after the jump…

Athletes Use Viagra as a Performance Enhancer

Tonight, I saw a segment on ESPN’s E:60 that left me baffled. Viagra might actually be a performance enhancer for athletes. Sure, I had heard the Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens rumors, but I guess it never really set in. Viagra was just one of the many performance enhancing drugs thrown around in their cases.

Viagra: An athlete's secret weapon?Watching E:60, it hit me – All I really needed in order to play well in last summer’s Lake Tahoe Tournament was a couple erectile-dysfunction pills!

Actually, that’s not what I thought at all… Could you imagine how uncomfortable that could’ve been?

(Side note: Not to mention those blue pills look like Aleve pills… Talk about a dirty prank!)

Seriously though, joking aside, it did hit me. I suddenly realized that many lacrosse players could and probably are taking Viagra before workouts, or worse, before games.

While it seems bizarre to us, we all have THAT GUY on our team who would do anything or take anything to excel. Considering lack of awareness among coaches and current substance abuse rules in college and high school lacrosse, the drug may be more rampantly used than we think.
