Hugo is a coach with the Cactus Cobras and assists the national program AZBOXLA in his hometown of Glendale, Arizona. He grew up in the Valley playing for the Glendale Vipers in the Arizona Youth Lacrosse League and was named to the All-State and All-Star teams his senior year. Graduating in 2011, Hugo was recruited to play for Aurora University (IL) before taking some time off school. Staying involved with the game by coaching and playing in men’s leagues, he was able to stay active in the sport until meeting with coach Nick Adler (Northern Arizona) in 2016, who convinced him to play for the school’s program. During his time at NAU, Hugo studied interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis on health/wellness coaching and advertising. As a student-athlete, he was a part of the program’s first conference championship in 2019 and represented the Lumberjacks in their first national tournament appearance. At age 28, Hugo is the happiest coach alongside his father, Bill Casey, introducing lacrosse to the youth, developing athletes, and growing the game.
