Lacrosse Iowa is the brainchild of Adam Edgington. Edg was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa a. A long time fan, he started Iowa's first lacrosse blog in 2008 and founded the Central Iowa Lacrosse Association. CILA is a comprehensive program with youth, high school, and adult programs for both sexes. Eventually CILA hopes to expand the game across the state of Iowa.

Beginning with the 2014 lacrosse season, Valley will no longer be the only boys’ high school lacrosse program in Central Iowa. Skyhawks Sports in conjunction with the Ankeny school district will sponsor a second club team in the metro’s northern suburb. Like Valley, the team will compete in the Nebraska High School Lacrosse League.
