Bullseye broke a 6-6- tie with a five-goal run taking control over its battle with the defending champion Blazers to capture a 13-11 win in Boston Box Lacrosse League (BBLL) action from Oct. 23 at South Shore Sports Center in Hingham.

Bullseye got off to a hot start in the game, scoring four quick goals in dominating the game’s first six minutes of play, but the Blazers rallied behind two goals from Marty Bowes and scores from Greg Rogowski, Brandon Dube and Davey Emala to knot the game at five. After the teams traded goals, Bullseye’s Charlie Fay netted an extra-man goal with 25 seconds remaining in the first half to make the score 7-6 at the break.
But Bullseye proceeded to dominate the first 10 minutes of the second half, and it was mostly the heroics of goalie Joe Evans – who finished the night with 42 saves – that the lead only ballooned to 11-6. During that stretch, it took heroic efforts to beat Evans, like two one-handed scores on inside feeds by Kyle Smith and a laser to the corner from Beau Wood.
Still, the Blazers rallied down the stretch, with Rogowski and Kyle Baker getting markers that kept the score in doubt nearly to the end of regulation.
Joe Nardella’s 26 loose balls and his dominance at the faceoff dot set the tone for Bullseye, which got a hat trick from Wood, two goals from Smith and Fay, a 1-goal/4-assist night from John Uppgren and multi-point nights from Will Walker, and Adam Fishman. Rogowski and Baker led the Blazers each with a hat trick, while Bowes added two goals and two assists, and Emala and Dube also registered multi-point nights.
In the BBLL’s night opening game, the Minutemen scored five of the game’s last six goals to come from behind against the MegaWhales.
The Minutemen started the game hot but after taking a 3-2 lead, saw the MegaWhales score four straight with just under five minutes remaining in the first half. Rob Murray and Nick Black scored for the Minutemen to close the4 gap to one, 6-5, at the break. The Minutemen finally knotted the score at 7 with 10:30 remaining in regulation, only to see Scott Corcoran net a Chuck Ross feed to put the MegaWhales back on top 8-7 a minute later. From there, however, the action all swung in favor of the Minutemen, who got goals from David Saccocci, Rob Murray, Ryan Murphy and Will Jennings to break the game open.
Jennings led the way for the Minutemen with four goals, while Murray added a hat trick and Murphy added two goals and four assists. Nick Black had a 2-goal, 2-assist game as well for ther Minutemen, who raised their record on the young season to 1-2. The MegaWhales, who now stand at 0-2, were led by Mike Maggio’s three goals and one assist, a four-point night from Charlie Ross and they got multi-point games from Dan Hettler and Scott Corcoran.
Next week in the BBLL, the MegaWhales square off with Bullseye in the opener, while PrimeTime returns to the field, playing the Minutemen in the nightcap in a game that will give one of those teams the edge in the middle of the standings.
