Blast From The Past

What better way to start the week than dissecting a 110 year old newspaper clipping. Canada vs the US all the way back in 1900 complete with exciting early 20th century commentary!

A little time capsule to start the week off strong. For our recent dive into the history of soccer in the United States, I stumbled on the greatness that is online archives of old newspapers.

Google has a great newspaper archive database as well as other individual papers like the New York Times. Contributor Daddy-O shot over this game re-cap and box score of a lacrosse game from 1900. Pretty nuts! But then again maybe I’m the only one who thinks looking at 110 year old newspaper clippings is cool.  Also it goes to show that the old Canada vs. USA rivalry has gone back a long way.

The language may be a little off but remember that this is what baseball looked like back in the day.
