Bullis Double Pick: #FilmBreakdown

As previously discussed on #FilmBreakdown, Bullis is a team with tremendous off-ball movement leading to great offensive opportunities. What else do they like to do? They love to run quick hitting plays like their Bullis double pick plays throughout the game to jump-start or supplement their offense.

Bullis Double Pick: #FilmBreakdown

A play is great when used off of timeouts, in short time situations or to simply calm the offense down and let them run something they have confidence in.

In today’s clip we see one example of the many wrinkles that Bullis used on their way to the Geico National Championship. In the play we see the ball carrier throw the ball to #17 and immediately cut through. #17 then brings the ball upfield before starting his sweep. Meanwhile, 2 Bullis players off ball set up staggered picks. These picks force the defense to react quickly and decide if they need to switch. The defense switches on the first pick and avoids the second but #17 has enough room to get his hands free and places a shot on cage for a goal. No the shot wasn’t perfect but the concept of the double pick along with a sweep is effective at getting the hands free and stresses the defense. If it worked against the Hill Academy imagine how it would work against your next high school opponent.
