Music Monday: T.G.I.L.D.

Editor’s Note: Please welcome Nate Fritts to the Lacrosse All Stars! This isn’t his first time on the site of course, we had the pleasure of meeting Nate on the Rhino Lacrosse Camp Tour a couple summers back. Nate hails from Portland, Oregon, played at Bowdoin College (NESCAC) in Maine, and now resides in Boston, MA where he researches concussions and brain diseases when he’s not laxing.

Each Monday, Michael Allen will take the morning detail, and Nate Fritts will continue to knock out the night hours… and sometimes Tuesday morning. Everybody wins! Check out all the Music Monday posts here!

Thank God it’s Labor Day! Thanks to those good ol’ Knights of Labor, we had an extra day to keep the weekend alive and celebrate the end of summer. Tomorrow may be time to head back to school/work but at least it’s a mere four days until another college football gameday. In honor of this wonderful holiday, I’m bringing you a couple of new work-themed songs to enjoy on your day off or to motivate you to keep working hard in lax, school, life, or whatever it may be.

Iggy Azalea – “Work” (Edited)

Ever heard of Iggy Azalea? Well until I took the time to look up this song, which I’d been hearing in bars on a regular basis, I hadn’t either. Azalea is an Australian rapper and model from New South Wales who has only recently broken out on the music scene (with some rather controversial singles, I might add). Though the original “Work” has its fair share of explicit content, it carries the right message about putting in the work to excel. It also happens to be an absolute banger, which is why it’s been on every party or club playlist I have heard in the last month.

Thanks to my boy Ricky Pages for the tip on Iggy Azalea!

David Guetta – “Work Hard Play Hard (feat. Ne-Yo and Akon)”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9G4XaJ9YJnw

This song has been around and popular for a few months now but for the sake of those few readers who haven’t heard it yet, it had to be included. David Guetta is pretty consistent in putting together high energy, feel good tracks and the vocals by Ne-Yo and Akon simply amplify the effect. Whatever you’re working hard on, there always has to be time for play. Next time you’re rewarding yourself for all the effort, make sure this track is part of the fun.
