Cajun’s Corner – More Growing The Game

First off – D1 Semi Finals and National Championship game were fun to watch last weekend. In case you fell asleep during the seemingly uneventful National Championship game, here is the first overtime played in it’s entirety.

Is Joe Alleva wondering what could have been? Is he now considering the growth potential of lacrosse in the SEC?

Baton Rouge

I laughed a little when I wrote those two questions.

If you’re going to try and get people interested in the sport, last weekend was the time to do it. In our neck of the woods, we hear a lot of “Oh, lacrosse? Ok. Yeah, I think I’ve heard of it. That’s the thing with the stick, right? I know more about hockey…” and that’s about as far as you can get on a normal day. But this past weekend, we had a chance to say “Just put it on ESPN real quick.” Works wonders having lacrosse on ESPN HD.

Dear ESPN,

Thank you for airing the games. You have no idea how much easier it makes my job.

Sincerely,
Knox.

We intentionally held our first annual free clinic to coincide with the semi final and NC games. The first clinic day was Saturday, from 9:00-11:00am. The second day was rained out. What did I expect? It’s hurricane season, and this season is supposed to be as bad as ’05 (Katrina).

The Saturday turn out was incredible, with a wide age group in attendance. I put one of our guys in charge of filming some of the festivities – don’t worry! I got a new Flip UltraHD so I won’t subject you to more iPhone vids.

And here’s a few pictures:

Then my in-laws invited me over for a crawfish boil. Can’t complain one bit.

Did some serious tweeting this week. Starting to like Twitter more than Facebook…

Rumor going around is that the Longhorns want to be a more relaxed club next year. This post and this post lead me to believe otherwise. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see?

I’ll be in Chicago for two weeks starting next week, and will be desperately searching for something laxy to do. Any suggestions?

Random, but so incredible, you should watch this.

He played High School ball for four years, and college ball for about 1 week until he realized his collegiate priorities rested with more important things like partying and eventually trying to get his grades up. He enjoys things that most Louisiana people do – eating boiled crawfish and alligator, a cold Abita Amber, anything LSU, his dog, and his beautiful girlfriend, Audrey. Lacrosse is not listed because most Louisiana people have no idea what lacrosse is.
